Athletics Director

Christian Alliance International School (CAIS), a non-profit making school wholly owned by Kowloon Tong Church of the Chinese Christian and Missionary Alliance, invites applications for a position of Athletics Director (non-teaching role).

Job duties

  • Develop, manage and supervise the P-12 athletic sports program in line with the school’s overall mission statement.
  • Ensure continuity and progression in sporting opportunities across P - 12.
  • Manage sporting calendar
    • Schedule practices, games, tournaments for all teams
    • Distribute weekly facility schedule
  • Select coaching staff, along with supervision, development and communication with coaches.
  • Organize coaches’ meetings at the beginning of each season to review expectations, guidelines, and rules of play.
  • Represent CAIS in all league and athletic associations including ISSFHK, HKSSF and PASS and attend all meetings. Lead the organisation of CAIS participation in associated leagues
    • Arrange officials, scorekeepers, timers for all home and away games
    • Arrange transportation for all away competitions
    • Assign staff cover for PE/Sports
    • Prepare and verify athletic eligibility lists
    • Ensure that student-athletes have turned in required forms/paperwork/fees
    • Oversee the distribution, collection, storage upkeep and replacement of school athletic uniforms
    • Order and distribute athletic apparel for coaches
    • Convene at least 1 sport for all ISSFHK’s 37 interscholastic teams
    • Update school platforms with schedules and locations of all practices and competitions
    • Maintain accurate records of team and school accomplishments
  • Supervise all home competitions and act as the host to officials, volunteers, parents and visiting schools. Responsible for the preparation for home competitions.
  • Application of external facilities and fields with appropriate communication between vendors
  • Prepare and monitor athletic budget, completing administrative paperwork for operational spending of budget.
  • Order equipment and maintain a current inventory of all athletic equipment.
  • Develop student leaders through Lions Committee
  • Plan year-end athletic banquet with presentation of athletic awards
  • Liaise with staff, parents & advancement team to promote sport throughout the school community
  • Promote sporting vision & values to school community
  • Maintain a clear strategic plan for the athletic program in sport
  • Long term planning in terms of sports facilities and participation in international competitions

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree or higher, preferably relevant to Physical Education, Sport Administration or Kinesiology
  • Minimum of two years of experience in sport administration
  • Native proficiency in spoken and written English required
  • Preferably holds a teaching certificate

Effective Date of Employment

The starting date for this appointment is mid-August 2022. Initial contracts are normally 2 years in duration.
