Thanksgiving Carnival Returns at CAIS

December 8, 2023

The Thanksgiving Carnival was a highly anticipated event after a four-year lapse. Held in October 2023, it was the largest event of the year, as the school hosted its entire community of over 1,600 students, along with their family and friends. The Kowloon Tong Church of the Chinese Christian and Missionary Alliance (KTAC) church and school family, prospective families, and the local community were also invited to join in the festivity.

This year’s carnival was particularly special as it took place in both the CAIS Academic Building and Amenities Building for the first time. Over 150 game and activity booths were spread across various floors, providing visitors a day of fun, games, food, entertainment, and much more for joyful enjoyment. The carnival was also a meaningful learning experience as all the high school booths were run by students.

Each high school PACT was responsible for running a carnival booth, with preparations including planning, booth decoration and design, logistics, and resource management. It was an opportunity for students to develop collaboration and organizational skills, while unleashing their talents and creativity. In Primary School, each homeroom hosted a booth with the assistance from teachers and parent volunteers. This allowed younger students to participate and contribute to the event.

The Thanksgiving Carnival is not only a fun-filled day, but also a fundraising event. Proceeds from ticket sales and school merchandise sold will go toward the CAIS Aquatic Centre and school improvement projects.

The resounding success of the carnival is a testament to the community’s enthusiasm and support. With over 6,200 visitors counted, it was a day for families to come together and enjoy a variety of fun activities, and a celebration of unity and welcoming the community.
