Spiritual Life
There are many appealing elements that make up student life at CAIS, and the most exciting one is that of their spiritual life. The Bible tells us that we are “fearfully and wonderfully made”, and that God has created each of us with great potential and value. We want our students to discover and understand this and to have these important truths in mind as they learn and grow.
At CAIS, we encourage a culture of kindness throughout the school where each member of our school community is respected, valued and loved. CAIS students enjoy a daily environment that has abundant opportunities to build character and experience spiritual growth through exercises including Christian education classes, weekly chapels, and a variety of spiritual emphasis activities.
CAIS students are equipped with a rich understanding of life and world events through the Christian education classes they take. Starting in Primary, students have weekly classes in which they learn more about God and His desire to have an intimate relationship with them. This continues in the junior high classes, where students undertake more in depth studies of books of the Bible and various personalities from the history of Christianity. In senior high, the academic program includes courses in ethics, morality and world religions.
Each week, our students and staff participate in a chapel time for their grade level. This is a cherished opportunity for them to gather together and sing songs of praise and worship to God and his Son, the Lord Jesus Christ. It is also a time when staff, guest speakers and even students share the good news of Jesus Christ and how God has touched their lives and the lives of others.
Students and teachers take time each year to focus on our walk with God through Spiritual Emphasis Activities. These exercises consist of gospel camps, spiritual emphasis days, and worship night, among others. These opportunities provide a change of pace either at school or at local campgrounds. Students have fun, get to know one another better, and learn more about God's character, his plan for the ages, and his desire for a personal relationship with each of us.
Another opportunity to engage high school students in the journey of faith is through our unique extracurricular program. The Glow In the Dark (GID) club helps students learn how to share their faith with others. Each year GID members reach out to people in Hong Kong and in other countries with creative presentations of the love of God. The Social Justice Club (SJC) partners with local nonprofits to make a positive difference in our community. They have spent quality time with children with special needs in the hospital, shared meals with refugees and engaged in many other meaningful activities.
In order for our students to grow in their personal relationship with God, they must have strong, spiritual mentors. At CAIS, teachers are our greatest resource and are loving, caring role models who desire to see their students grow up loving and respecting God and serving others. They are more than willing to spend time sharing, advising, and praying with and for our students.
