Athletics Officer and Fitness Trainer

Christian Alliance International School (CAIS), a non-profit making company wholly owned by the Kowloon Tong Church of the Chinese Christian and Missionary Alliance, invites applications for the position of Athletics Officer and Fitness Trainer. Reporting to the High School Principal and the Athletics Director, Athletics Officer and Fitness Trainer (AFTO) has a vital role in supporting wellness for all staff and students, including fitness program development at the individual, classroom, and team levels. The AFTO is responsible for assisting the management of the Lions Athletics program and extra-curricular sports events that take place at the school. The working hours are typically from 9 am to 6 pm, with some flexibility needed when hosting sports games and events. Responsibilities include the following:

Duties and Responsibilities

  1. Athletics/ CAIS Lions
Assist the Athletics Director in organizing, preparing and conducting the Lions Athletics program, which include but are not limited to:
  • Assisting and supporting seasonal league programs, such as recruiting players and coaches;
  • Administrative planning for tryouts, practices and competitions, performing administrative responsibilities for the Lions Athletics program, including but not limited to parent inquiries (phone and email), collecting payments from student-athletes, keeping score records, updating game schedules, recording attendance, recruitment of new participants, and other program-related duties
  • Preparing equipment and venues for practices and competitions, distributing and collecting sport team uniforms
  • Serving as the school liaison to assist sports teams from visiting schools, supervise and support the scorekeepers and the referees during games, officiate games, planning awards ceremonies and banquets, special events etc.
  • Ordering, distributing, and collecting sports team uniforms
  • Collaborating with the Athletics Director to create marketing materials that includes class descriptions, website content, communication strategies/channels, and development and distribution of collateral materials
  • Managing inventory of the Lions Athletics equipment, ensuring that the amount of equipment is sufficient for program needs and in good working condition.
  • Accompanying the school sports teams on away games when needed
  • Organizing home games and hosting sports events
  • Assisting in formulating safety policies and procedures
  • Assisting the Athletics Director in any other ad hoc matters
 
  1. Fitness Room
Oversee the daily operations of the school’s Fitness Room, which include:
  • Planning and conducting the Fitness Room Orientation Session for new students and new staff
  • Ensuring all fitness equipment are maintained in good condition, including safety and cleanliness
  • Regularly monitoring and arranging for maintenance of fitness equipment
  • Coordinating with external service companies for warranties and maintenance contracts
  • Maintaining records and reports related to the facility management of the Fitness Room
  • Handling enquiries regarding the Fitness Room
  • Supervising students and staff in fitness-related activities, demonstrating various exercises/routines and teaching the correct technique to minimize injury and improve fitness
  • Planning and conducting regular Lions Athletics team fitness programs
 
  1. Physical Education
  • Assisting the PE teachers for annual school-wide sporting events such as Sports Days
  • Assisting the PE teachers in the delivery of the curriculum as appropriate
 Working Hours
  • Monday to Friday: 9:00am-6:00pm
  • Flexible arrangement (i.e. 10:00am-7:00pm) when hosting games
  • Occasional weekend sports events (with time compensation)

Qualifications and Experience

  • Degree with a major in Physical Education or related disciplines such as in kinesiology or exercise science is preferred.
  • Personal Training Certification is required.
  • First-aid training and cardiopulmonary resuscitation (CPR) is required.
  • Other certification in specialized areas such as TRX, Rock Tape, Foam Rolling, etc. is preferred.
  • Experience in recreation/ sports/ clubhouse management or other related field preferred.
  • Experience in working with children/youth preferred.
  • Working knowledge of human anatomy, kinesiology and training principles as well as knowledge of group fitness teaching strategies.
  • Self-motivated, outgoing and passionate about fitness and wellbeing.
  • Ability to effectively manage Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Teams, Outlook) to facilitate strong management of sports data and communication with teachers, students, and parents.
  • Proficiency in written and spoken English required.
  • Competency in spoken Chinese preferred.
