IT Manager

Christian Alliance International School (CAIS), a non-profit making school wholly owned by the Kowloon Tong Church of the Chinese Christian and Missionary Alliance, invites applications for the position of IT Manager. The IT Manager plays a key role in ensuring effective IT services are delivered to support the school’s effective operation and strategic goals and initiatives. The IT Manager reports directly to Head of School or delegated leader.

Duties and Responsibilities

  • Oversee the school’s provision of IT systems for students, parents and staff.
  • Facilitate and steer IT strategy and policy, to promote well-being and learning.
  • Work with the Senior Leadership Team to enable them to achieve their strategic goals of integrating IT into the curriculum, as and where appropriate and desirable.
  • Lead the IT and PowerSchool and System Development (PSD) Teams, aiming to ensure consistently positive experiences for all users.
  • Ensure appropriate provision and maintenance of hardware to meet the needs of the school and monitor systems to minimise downtime.
  • Support other team leaders to achieve their department goals through effective and innovative use of digital tools.
  • Oversee the administration and maintenance of cloud-based and on-site systems, servers, and applications. Such as Microsoft 365, Active Directory, PowerSchool, Human Resources and Finance system, and other teaching and learning applications.
  • Provide appropriate levels of security for different systems and stakeholders within the school and ensure security and integrity of the school’s data and information systems.
  • Ensure compliance with relevant data protection and security regulations.
  • Develop and manage the IT budget, track expenses and optimize costs.
  • Liaise with external software services providers.
  • Research, test, pilot and recommend new technologies that support the learning environment and support systems.
  • Coordinate acquisition, installation, upgrades and maintenance of all aspects of IT infrastructure within the school.
  • Oversee PowerSchool system development to ensure efficient use of resources and deliver results in a reasonable timeline.
  • Assist in answering helpdesk tickets and provide general IT support to staff, students and parents, as required.
  • Respond and handle urgent system support requests in a timely manner. Occasional work outside of normal office hours may be required for critical systems.

Qualifications and Experience

  • Degree holder in Information Technology, Computer Science/Software Engineering or equivalent. Post-Graduate Qualifications preferred.
  • At least 5 years of post-qualification working experience (of which at least 2 years relevant experience)
  • Proficiency in computer hardware and software including Windows Desktop, Mac OS, MS Office and back-end administration (Windows Server, AD)
  • Certificates in MCSA / MCSE / MCP / CCNA / ITIL will be an advantage
  • Hands-on experience with infrastructure administration, project management, or software development will be an advantage.
  • Experience in school operation environments is preferred
  • Excellent verbal and written communications skills in both English and Chinese
