Student Services

CAIS Student Services provide multidisciplinary services consisting of university and career guidance and placement, mental and emotional guidance counseling, academic and gifted education services, child protection and safeguarding, and learning support for developing students with special educational needs. The Student Services team works to ensure the provision of appropriate services and support for individual students. When necessary, the school can refer students to additional medical, counseling and assessment resources within the local community.

Welcome

For parents, the decision of where to enroll your child is a big one – it will have an everlasting impact on your child’s future, learning, and education. Here at Christian Alliance International School (CAIS), you can trust our dedicated Student Services team of professionals – expertly trained, qualified, and experienced learning support teachers and assistants, learning and behavioral specialists, counselors, and educational psychologists. We will collaborate closely with each divisional administrative team, teachers and parents to meet the various needs of your developing child as they mature and unlock abilities you never knew existed.

We are a Christ-centered community. The Bible informs us that all children are created in the image and likeness of God and given unique gifts and talents that glorify God and serve others (Genesis 1:26-27; James 1:17). Our identities are not subject to our inabilities, but rather our abilities. For we are all members of one body working together to build, equip, strengthen, and learn from one another (1 Corinthians 12:12).

We believe that all teachers and staff have an important role to play in the growth and maturity of our students. We take delight and consider it a privilege to leverage academic excellence through a rigorous education with the ministry of God’s love from Biblical teachings in meeting the individual needs of all students. Therefore, if your child joins our school, they will be a vital part of our culture, our learning, and everything that makes us unique.

I pray, and challenge you, to come experience the CAIS difference and discover with us how learning with Jesus Christ at the center of it all makes the difference.

Sincerely,
Charles C Grayson
Director of Student Services

Mr. Ronald ChanGuidance Counselor(Grades 10-12),Advanced Placement Coordinator

Ronald has almost 10 years of experience in Guidance Counseling. He sees students’ personal growth and social interaction as equally important to their academic performance. Ronald works with students on their socioemotional needs, and particularly in preparing them for tertiary education in Hong Kong, UK, Canada and Australia. He has a deep understanding of the structures of International Baccalaureate Diploma, Advanced Placement and the Alberta high school diploma. Ronald has a master’s degree in School Guidance and Counseling and has been certified in this field by several professional bodies.

Ronald’s favorite Bible verse is Psalm 127:1, “Unless the LORD builds the house, those who build it labor in vain.”

We offer students the opportunity to ask questions as they explore multiple academic pathways. Students at CAIS embark on the Alberta (Canada) Curriculum and can later decide in Grade 10 whether to continue to pursue the Alberta High School Diploma or whether to opt for the International Baccalaureate Diploma Programme (IBDP) for their final two years of school. Additionally, CAIS offer students with Advanced Placement (AP) courses alongside the Alberta Diploma. Our team can support students and their parents in the decision-making stage.

Students, apart from taking the Career and Life Management (CALM) course, receive expert guidance: Transition to High School assemblies, planned activities at University and Career Planning Nights, and Career & Academic Talks with professionals and universities. Furthermore, students receive individual planning that explores university selection and evaluation one-on-one. During this stage, students begin by selecting courses and determining fit, receiving reference letters, academic transcripts, and guided support on their personal statements.

CAIS is blessed to have a community of experienced therapists. Students seeking counseling services receive a safe, nurturing, confidential, and caring environment to express their social-emotional and mental health needs. The counselors at CAIS provide a non-judgmental responsive and system support model that is centered on biblical and clinical approaches for addressing and coaching students’ needs for management skills, goal setting, stress management, and mental health processing.

Learning Support

CAIS provides services for students with mild special learning needs. Students are expected to function in and profit from the regular classroom curriculum with Student Service support designed to bridge student learning gaps with classroom expectations.

Our Learning Support specialists follow a collaborative model based on early intervention, prevention and best practices in remediation. Students who have been identified with special learning needs are provided a continuum of supportive services differentiated to meet individual needs. Learning Support Specialists provide consultation, collaborative planning, team teaching and small group instruction as well as individual remediation using supplemental curriculum materials. Parents and teachers are consulted as we develop the program to meet individual student needs.
